Philip Pierre is the Founder and Managing Attorney of PHP LAW. Philip has extensive experience engaging in litigation and transactional work. Philip’s legal career commenced at the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office in New York City, serving as an Assistant District Attorney. He subsequently transitioned into practicing tax law at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), a leading Big Four accounting firm in Manhattan, in the federal Merger and Acquisition Tax practice group. In addition to operating his law firm, Philip serves as a Judge in New York City.
Prior to passing the New York State Bar Examination, Philip achieved many successes in law school while attending the University at Buffalo School of Law (UB Law), where he earned a Juris Doctor degree. Philip served as the Executive Publication Editor for the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review, President of the Black Law Students Association, and a Research Assistant to Professor David Westbrook. Moreover, Philip was a member of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court team and several trial teams, one of which secured a finalist position in a national trial team competition. In his final year at UB Law, Philip authored Broken Promises: The Hollow Dreams of Human Trafficking, a law review article that was later published in the Buffalo Public Interest Law Journal. Philip received several awards while attending UB Law.
Philip also matriculated into New York University School of Law (NYU Law), earning a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) and served as a Senior Staff Editor for the Tax Law Review, the premiere academic legal publication in the field of tax.
In addition to acquiring two law degrees, Philip holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts, both from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Philip is bilingual, speaking English and Haitian Creole.
Philip's fascination with the law began as an inner-city youth in New York City. He observed the socio-economic inequities in his community in the form of dismal community policing and predatory institutions that exploited his neighbors. Moreover, Philip observed the elitist entitlement that permeated in communications between low-income individuals and persons that had more resources, which at times led to demeaning discussions toward the have-nots and prohibiting access to financial resources that would have led to life-changing events It was at this point that young Philip decided to become an attorney to advocate for the underdogs. After acquiring numerous advanced degrees and years of substantial experience, Philip is equipped with the necessary skills to achieve his dream – to protect you, the client.
